This article compiles frequently asked questions from Umbraco Training courses, covering general questions for your learning journey. It includes answers related to the certification, certification exam, user profiles and access, payment, and others.
Question: How do I enroll / sign up for training?
Answer: You can sign up for on-demand courses on our training platform: https://training.umbraco.com/storefront. You can also browse our different courses on the website and from there visit the training platform for each individual course.
Question: What courses do I need to get a certification?
Answer: You can read about what courses are needed for a certification on our Get Certified page. Below you can find an overview of the courses as well:
For the Professional certification:
Fundamentals
For the Expert certification:
Fundamentals, Umbraco & MVC, Extending the Backoffice, Application Integration, and Security.
For the Master certification:
Fundamentals, Umbraco & MVC, Extending the Backoffice, Application Integration, Security, Searching & Indexing and Load Balancing.
Question: How long is a certification/re-certification valid for?
Answer: Your training certification/re-certification is valid for 2 years since passing the exam.
Question: How do I get re-certified / renew my certification?
Answer: Before your certification expires, you can purchase access to a recertification exam, instead of re-taking the course(s) again. If you fail the recertification exam, you must attend a course to refresh your memory.
You can purchase and start the renewal exam by searching for the specific renewal on the Storefront (on the training platform), like so:
The Cloud Developer course has recently been removed from the Master certification. If your current Master certification includes the Cloud developer course, please let us know, and we'll let you know about the options for renewing.
Certification Exam
Question: What is the format for the certification/re-certification exam?
Answer: The Professional certification exam consists of 20 questions, and the Expert and Master certification exams consist of 60 questions. The questions are based on the knowledge taught in the courses required for each exam. For instance, the Professional exam will only contain questions based on the Umbraco Fundamentals course. All exams have a 60-minute timer, and you have 3 attempts to pass. If you do not pass an exam after 3 tries, you must attend the course again or purchase access to the re-exam.
Question: I have taken the exam, but encountered some questions that were not covered in the training course. How is this possible?
Answer: We update the exam questions based on the latest version of the course. In this case, it could be that you have not taken the latest version of the training course.
Payment
Question: I’m an Umbraco Partner. Do I have other payment options?
Answer: For other payment options, reach out to your partner manager at Umbraco.
Question: I need an invoice for my purchase.
Answer: We will send an invoice by the end of the month. If you have not received it by then, reach out to accounts@umbraco.com.
Others
Question: How do I get a public link to share my training history?
Answer: You can find your public training history on our Certified Developers page.
Question: Why can´t I find myself on the certified developers page when I just passed a certification exam?
Answer: One of the requirements to show on the certified developers page is to have a first name, last name, and a country added to your profile. Add these details to your profile and wait around 24 hours to see if you show on the page. If it still does not show up, please ask Umboto to "speak to a human".
